Disco Cake

For Lindsey's 8th birthday, 2/13/2010 -- she wanted a disco party, so her cake was kind of a disco ball. We made two round-ish cakes and placed them one on top of the other. They were devil's food cake. The frosting was homemade butter cream frosting tinted pink/purple with edible silver glitter sprinkled on. We wrote "Happy 8th Birthday Rock Star" on the cake.

We made lots of yummy cupcakes and as you can see, Lindsey was pretty pleased!
The punch is the best! Lindsey requested it and every time I make it, none is leftover! It consists of vanilla ice cream, orange sherbet, pineapple juice and orange juice (NO Sprite or ginger ale!). It is so yummy!!
Happy Birthday our baby girl!

Dad's Oreo Cake

Since my Dad's birthday is also in April (the day before Mallory's), we made him a birthday cake that looks like an Oreo Cookie! This was also in April of 2006. The cake was devil's food cake, the center was a cream cheese/whipped topping/crushed Oreo cookie mixture that was oh, so good.

Cupcake

Okay so there's nothing really extravagant about this cupcake but I was going through old pictures and this is just TOO cute not to post! Our 4-year-old Lindsey is enjoying a cupcake that we made for Mallory's 6th birthday get-together at our home in April 2006. So sweet!

Where it all began... Jo Jo The Clown

This is where Mom and my extreme cake-baking all began... With Mallory's 6th birthday cake. You can get an idea from the above picture of just how big this cake was. It was a really big cake. Oh, and look how cute Miss Mallory was on her 6th birthday (April 2006). AWWWW

And there she is, Jo Jo the Clown. Looks pretty good I think especially for our first attempt at decorating.
I have to admit though, Mom and I spent about 11 hours on this cake, which is why I don't bake/decorate for a living. We tend to take our time, make extra trips to the store for things we've forgotten or suddenly realize we need, and we take alot of breaks to eat and generally goof off. But, our cakes are usually worth the effort since we lovingly make them peanut/contaminant-free with yummy homemade frosting.

Honey Bun Cake

I made this Honey Bun cake for a lady at church who had just had surgery (and her family). They really enjoyed it. I had never made it before but the recipe sounded so good. Now I'm going to have to make myself one! It looked like a 13 x 9 HONEY BUN! When I make myself one, I'll be having a piece when it's nice and warm. Either with a tall glass of milk or some hot tea! mmmmmmm
